Building C, built by the Military Engineers in the archaeological area of Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, is a building of particular architectural value. It represents an elegant model of a prefabricated system from the early twentieth century. This constructive peculiarity made it necessary to carry out a investigation of the construction techniques with which the building components were made. A controlled demolition of the floor covering led to a ventilated space built with brick vaults. The system created is really of particular value but, due to its construction specificity, it cannot guarantee the capacity of 800Kg / m2 required to guarantee the possibility of depositing large-scale archaeological pieces. The need to carry out a reversible intervention has been established which, while ensuring the necessary capacity of the walking surface, allows the integral conservation of the pre-existing ventilated crawl space. Conservation of the original construction system was envisaged by creating a new steel and brick floor with reinforced concrete screed.
